Freeing Butterfly

Memorable moments at the races:

  • Seeing a guy with a ‘horse head’ hat. Absolutely hilarious.
  • Being rained upon minutes after the races finished.
  • A couple making out with the guy groping her ass in front of everyone as we all huddled under cover as it continued to rain down.
  • Trying to find work mates at a racecourse filled with half of the city’s population.
  • Losing hearing in my left ear as glamorously dressed females screamed their lungs out and proved yet again that female voices can be high-pitched AND travel far.

However, what was most thought-provoking yesterday was the lunch we had at one of the guy’s houses. Sitting in his backyard near the bbq, it sort’ve struck me how it was that we all came to be at that one spot having lunch on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. The only thing that tied us all together was working at the same company. Our backgrounds, nationalities, personalities and interests all vary so greatly. Yet there we were enjoying each other’s company around a sausage, salad and lots of champagne. In large contrast to the types of activities I was involved in only six days ago, huddled around a computer and desperately trying to meet deadlines. Well, not exactly entirely different. After all, I am still huddled around a computer and chasing deadlines for work. Mmmm… let me put it this way then. Yesterday seemed quite surreal in contrast to the last few weeks being holed up by four walls feeling lonely and depressed. Life seems to be looking up after all.

Going home yesterday and being able to vegetate in front of the television was probably one of the nicest things that I’ve done in a while though. Guilt-free chasing tv serials. *blissful sigh* I came home early because of the races, and it is so bizarre to be sitting in the lounge room in daylight when the clock says its 6pm already. But who cares? The entire evening felt like a holiday.

I’m free of the pressure. I’m free of the guilt. I’m free, I’m free, I’m FREEEE!!!!

Ah yes... sounds like a great feeling...

That's the difference between work and school... when school ends, you still have to worry about it at home... but when work ends, you go home to rest...
